Balloon pilot BPL: EASA Class 2

BPL examinations are suitable for balloon pilots. A balloon pilot is responsible for the safety of all passengers. To perform this function properly, a medical examination is required for balloon pilots.

EASA Examinations

    • Medical history in combination with physical examination
    • Biometrics (height, weight, waist circumference and blood pressure)
    • Urine test
    • Blood test (HB)
    • Cholesterol analysis (on indication)
    • ECG (cardiac test at rest)
    • Extensive eye test
    • History;
    • Visual acuity: distant – intermediate – near; with and without optical correction;
    • Refraction measurement;
    • Eye movement and binocular vision;
    • Fields of vision;
    • Color test;
    • Examination of the external eye, anatomy, media and fundoscopy.
    • Lung function test (peak flow - on indication)
    • Comprehensive ENT (ear, nose and throat) examination
    • Audiogram (only for IFR)
    • Tympanometry
    • Medical history in combination with physical examination
    • Biometrics (height, weight, waist circumference and blood pressure)
    • Urine test
    • ECG (cardiac test at rest)
    • Only at the age of 40
    • Standard eye test
    • Lung function test (peak flow)
    • Standard ENT (ear, nose and throat) examination
    • Audiogram (only for IFR, every two years)
    • Medical history in combination with physical examination
    • Biometrics (height, weight, waist circumference and blood pressure)
    • Urine test
    • ECG (cardiac test at rest), every two years

At various locations in the Netherlands

The Aviation Medical Center has several locations throughout the Netherlands. At all these locations you can go for a medical or psychological examination. One exception is the Rijswijk location. Only medical examinations are held there.
